When you have sensitive skin, it makes buying skincare products very difficult. You want to try the latest and greatest skincare products that hit the market, but you know that if you use one wrong ingredient, you're going to have to nurse your poor skin back to health for weeks. Luckily for you, I've gone ahead and tried some great products that I just know your skin will love from cleansing face pads to lip masks. So, let me go on ahead and spill the tea!
Cleansing Pads & Face Towels
In my family, washing your face with a white washcloth, daily, was the best option because it was free of dyes. However, we didn't realize that it wouldn't be free of the unseen-- bacteria. I feel the judgment coming, but I used to use the same cloth to wash my body. 🙈 I'm not sure how much of an impact it made on my skin, but I knew that I could no longer take those risks, especially when I have been struggling with sensitive skin for years. Plus, I trust what the dermatologists say. After all, they are the skincare experts 🤷🏽♀️ So, I started using Clean Skin Club's Clean Face Pads and Clean Towels. No more buttface for me! 😅
Cleanser
Along with white washcloths, I had used Dove Original or Sensitive Skin Beauty Bars on my face for as long as I can remember. Granted, to this day, I still use them to wash my body. Baby steps. Nevertheless, I switched to Vanicream after a bad experience with Good Molecules. See video here. I knew I needed more reinforcements than just Dove to get my face back together. So, I did what any good researcher does and searched "face cleansers for sensitive skin" on TikTok. DUH. I came across Vanicream's Gentle Facial Cleanser on Dermatologist TikTok and it fit right in my price range. So, I ordered it and to my surprise, fell in love. No stinging. No burning. No adverse reaction. Just a nice lather and clean-feeling skin!
Face Oil
I received Sunday Riley's C.E.O. product line as a gift and decided to give them a try after going down a #skintok rabbit hole. I had no clue there were levels to skincare. I washed my face with my Dove beauty bar, slapped some Aquaphor Healing Ointment on my face, and kept it moving! It worked until it didn't work. I had no clue what face oil was for, but since Sunday Riley was so kind to send me their expensive products, I obliged. I used Sunday Riley's C.E.O. Glow Vitamin C + Turmeric Face Oil combined with their C.E.O. Afterglow Brightening Vitamin C Cream or C.E.O.Brightening Serum (I switched them up depending on how I felt). Baybeeeeee. You couldn't tell me NOTHING. I was out here with the pregnancy glow, but I was a year postpartum.
Serum
Although I love Sunday Riley's C.E.O. Brightening Serum, it was not budget-friendly. So, I researched serums that would do the same thing, but more affordable. After being introduced to Korean beauty products, I found out that they're great for skin hydration and sensitive skin. During an Amazon Prime Day sale, I accidentally purchased two bottles of Beauty of Joseon's Glow Serum, which in hindsight I now see that "God be knowing". Again, I found another product that was gentle on my skin and gave what it was supposed to give!
Moisturizer
After I found myself trending on #skintok after my mishap with Good Molecules, SOME BY MI was one of the many brands that reached out in order to gift me their products. One of the products they sent was their Beta Panthenol Repair Cream. I honestly didn't have any expectations, but was desperate because my face was hideous (yes, I'm dramatic). Between the hyperpigmentation, burning, eczema flare-up, and my overall embarrassment to show my face on screen or in public (true story), I needed a solution! To my surprise, the repair cream CAME IN CLUTCH! My skincare barrier came right back to life and better if I might add. This is what really peaked my interest in K-Beauty products.
SPF
The last step in your skincare routine should be SPF or sunscreen. I. HAD. NO. CLUE. The only time I used sunscreen (maybe) was when I went to the beach, which wasn't often. I've had bad experiences with sunscreen. They were either too greasy, made me look like Casper, the not-so-friendly ghost, and/or broke me out. I thought that because I was melanated I didn't need it anyway. So, I didn't bother. I was ignorant, though. I didn't know that SPF was the key to keeping your skin young and healthy-looking. SOME BY MI's Air Fit Sunscreen has been a great gift to me. It goes on just like a smooth, moisturizing lotion, reinforcing my glow.
Lip Products
Before I took my skincare seriously, my lips were my pride and joy. My mom never let me or my brother leave the house with crusty lips. Our Christmas stockings and birthday gifts always included Chapstick, Blistex, or Carmex (IYKYK). Since I got a little bougie on a budget, I started purchasing Laneige's Lip Sleeping Mask, which I actually wear all day. I love the smell of the mask and how it makes it look like my lip gloss is poppin'! It's definitely a favorite of mine as it seals my skincare routine with a kiss, pun intended. I honestly have never purchased their Lip Glowy Balm, but I'm certain that it probably works just as well. Side note: Laneige was my introduction to K-Beauty.
In Conclusion...
Now that I have a whole skincare routine for my sensitive skin, I can't pinpoint which product has my skin looking and feeling the healthiest it's ever been. What I can tell you is that my skin loves them all. While this post wasn't intended to be about K-Beauty products, they were obviously the real MVP's here because I'm actually 105 years old, but they have me looking and feeling 22. 😝
This is the second time today I’ve seen those wipes! I need to grab me some. Great list!
